Tap the Device Security tile on the Smart Manager screen (refer to Figure 2). The Smart Manager app includes the Intel Security feature, which is disabled by default.īefore you can use Intel Security on your Tab S2, you need to activate it.
Malware, which is software designed to damage or disable a computer system, is a threat on any computing device, including the Galaxy Tab S2. Return to the Smart Manager screen by tapping the Back icon at the left side of the blue menu bar. If you want to close all apps, tap End All at the bottom of the screen. If you want to close one or more apps that are running in the background, swipe up and down in the list and then tap the End button to the right of the app you want to close. To the right of the icon you’ll see how much memory is used for your system and app files, as well as how much memory is free. The total amount of memory appears below the icon. The percentage icon in the upper-left corner of the screen shows how much memory is being used (see Figure 5).įigure 5 The currently used percentage of your Tab S2 memory is represented by the blue portion of the circle. View information about your Tab S2’s memory usage by tapping the RAM tile on the Smart Manager screen (refer to Figure 2). If you need more details about the files that the Smart Manager app deems unnecessary, tap the Detail button within the User Data section on the screen. Tap Delete in the Unnecessary Data section to delete these unused files. The Smart Manager app considers data unnecessary if it’s no longer needed by apps, or it consists of advertising files collected while you browse the Web using a browser app. Tap the top Detail button to get more information on how your space is being used. The Storage screen also lists the total amount of storage available on the device, how much space holds “unnecessary” data (explained shortly), the amount of space taken by system and user data, and the amount of storage available. As Figure 4 shows, the Storage screen displays a large icon indicating the current percentage of storage used.įigure 4 The currently used percentage of your Tab S2 storage is represented by the blue portion of the circle. View your Tab S2’s storage information by tapping the Storage tile on the Smart Manager screen (refer to Figure 2). Return to the Smart Manager screen by tapping the Back icon (it looks like an arrow pointing left) located at the left side of the blue menu bar that appears at the top of the screen. Tap the Detail button to view the app(s) that the Smart Manager app is optimizing, change app optimization settings, and turn app optimization on and off. To conserve battery power, the Smart Manager app may also suspend the affected app’s operation, or even close the app automatically. At a minimum, the Smart Manager app removes any unwanted files related to the affected app. The App Optimization section of the battery info lists the apps that are being optimized for best battery use. Tap the Battery Usage button to view more detailed information about battery use and enable power-saving features to help save your battery. For example, if you use a battery-intensive app such as Video to watch videos, your Tab S2’s estimated usage time may be considerably lower the next time you check it.
Your estimated battery usage time may drop more quickly, based on the apps you use.
A full battery’s usage time is approximately 50 hours. To the right of the battery charge percentage is the estimated usage time remaining for the battery. Figure 3 The battery charge icon shows that my Tab S2’s battery is at 100% charge capacity, which means that the battery is fully charged.
